Head of School Search

On November 27, 2018, Board Chair Nana Howell and Head of School Scott Parker announced that Scott has decided to pursue new professional opportunities at the end of the 2019/2020 school year. Developments and updates will be posted here.

Introduction from the Search Committee

As Presentation parents, the search committee is committed to finding a new Head of School who will embrace our mission, values, and culture while building upon the growth achieved during Scott’s seven years at the helm. Thanks to our Founders, Scott’s leadership, and the dedication of our entire Presentation community, our next Head of School will inherit a solid foundation to help our children become life-long learners and responsible leaders.

We believe deeply in “Love, Learn, Lead.” We believe in the potential of our kids. We believe in the power of our Presentation community and we are dedicated to making the Head of School search process as transparent and inclusive as possible.

On this page you will find information about the search process, including anticipated timing, answers to frequently asked questions, and an archive of search-related communications. We encourage you to contact the search committee at headsearch@presentationschool.com with questions, input, and concerns.

With your participation, we are well-positioned to find the best Head of School to lead Presentation into its next chapter as we build on the school’s foundation and achieve even greater heights.

Search Consultants

We are thrilled to have Doreen Oleson and Cathy Hunter of Resource Group 175 (RG175) assist us with our search. RG175 is one of the most respected educational search consultants in the country, known for tailoring their searches to the uniqueness of each school. The search committee selected RG175 out of other top firms as the best fit for Presentation.

Search Process

RG175 is working with the search committee to understand Presentation’s unique culture and needs. On February 25-27, their representatives, Doreen Oleson and Cathy Hunter, will meet with a variety of our community members. Shortly after that, they will conduct an online survey of community members who were unable to participate in the on-campus meetings. The process will remain quiet through the spring and summer as RG175 and the search committee vet potential candidates. In fall 2019, finalists will be brought to campus. Throughout this period and through his transition at the end of the 2019-2020 school year, Scott Parker will continue his daily activities as Head of School.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Scott Parker’s last day?

Scott Parker will continue to lead Presentation through the 2019-2020 school year, until his official last day on June 30, 2020. Scott and the Board of Trustees have carefully planned his transition and have ample time to conduct a comprehensive search for the next head of school.

Who will conduct the search for the new head?

The Presentation Board of Trustees has formed a search committee composed of a few members of the Board and the Presentation community. This committee is supported by an advisory council of staff and teachers. The committee has engaged RG175, one of the top national educational search firms in the country, to lead our HOS search. RG175 was selected based on their deliberate, collaborative and individualized process, as well as their consultants’ knowledge of the Wine Country and Presentation School.

Will I be able to participate in the Search?

Yes. The whole Presentation community will have the opportunity to participate in interviews or an online survey.

When will the new head of school be chosen?

The goal of the Presentation search committee is to hire a new HOS by the end of 2019.

How can I stay informed about the search process?

Throughout the search process, the search committee will keep the entire Presentation community informed with updates and information via email and on our website. Please understand that this process is not totally transparent because confidentiality must be maintained until the final candidates are invited to campus in fall 2019.
