Love. Learn. Lead. Image of Head of School

These three little words are more than a slogan - these are the powerful words that inspire us each day here at TPS. My grandmother always said, “small but mighty!” and that’s an apt description of The Presentation School as a whole. We are an intentionally small, independent school motivated to know each student individually and allow each student the opportunity to explore their curiosities and expand their horizons.

We are home to what I know is the finest faculty in these valleys - dedicated educators who have a deep love for our profession, showing love to each child, nurturing their intellectual abilities, and supporting their social-emotional well-being.

I invite you to our beautiful campus in Sonoma Valley where we have plenty of green space and gardening for students to enjoy. Inside our buildings you’ll find lively classrooms guided by teachers leading an academic program that challenges our students. Our inspired faculty evaluate and choose curriculum for our school that meets the needs of our students. In the last year alone, our faculty have piloted and/or rolled out new engaging curricula in English Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies. The diligent work of our faculty has enabled our students to outperform 97.4% of students nationally according to the 2021 ERB testing.

A strong academic program is only part of our story. We are a community who care about the social and emotional well-being of students who are growing up in what can feel like an uncertain world. This year, we are proud to fully roll out the K-8 RULER social intelligence curriculum with the Center for Social Intelligence faculty training from Yale University. This new program will enhance our already prioritized social-emotional learning program and help students understand the value of their emotions and build the skills for healthy social intelligence.

Our holistic programming gives everyone an opportunity to explore. Our professional fine and performing arts program, Spanish instruction from kindergarten through 8th grade, innovative STEM opportunities, and an integrated faith curriculum, are proof that we take seriously the school’s founding vision to bring a renaissance in education to the Sonoma Valley. Our students have technology at their fingertips with a 1:1 iPad program in K-2 and 1:1 laptop program for grades 3-8 giving them the tools to continually adapt to a rapidly changing world.

The world needs creative children, who will adapt their intrinsic sense of wonder, and trial and error, to solve complex problems. We want them to do this with an equal sense of joy and hope. Presentation students are given numerous opportunities, scripted and unplanned, to share their learning with the entire school community through performances, student-led liturgies, and all school “Showcases.” In this way, our kids learn what it means to be thoughtful leaders – whether speaking in front of the class, or listening in the audience. It’s an awesome responsibility, and yet our kids make it look easy.

At Presentation, we believe that every child has gifts and talents to be discovered, nurtured, and treasured. Our success in helping young people learn and grow is rooted in our commitment to small class sizes, engaging and caring teachers, and our community’s belief that all children should be appropriately challenged: academically, socially and spiritually.

As an independent school, we welcome and celebrate families from all backgrounds. We invite you to experience the difference of a Presentation School education for your own children and join our close-knit and caring community. I look forward to meeting you!
