Presentation is a RULER Spotlight School!

A Systemic Approach to Social-Emotional intelligence & Learning

The Presentation School is pleased to be honored by Yale University as a RULER Spotlight School!

RULER is a systemic approach to social and emotional learning (SEL) developed at Yale University's Center for Emotional Intelligence. The K-8 curriculum program at our school teaches emotional intelligence with the goal of creating a healthier, more equitable, innovative, and compassionate society. Our aim is to infuse the principles of emotional intelligence into the immune system of our school informing how leaders lead, teachers teach, students learn, and families support students.

The development of these five RULER skills relies on four core tools: the Charter, Mood Meter, Meta-Moment, and Blueprint. These skills and tools are introduced to all stakeholders in the school community—school leaders, teachers, administrators, students, and families.

RULER is an acronym for the five skills of emotional intelligence.

What is RULER?

RULER is an evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning (SEL) developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER supports the entire school community in:

  • Understanding the value of emotions
  • Building the skills of emotional intelligence
  • Creating and maintaining a positive school climate

RULER is a CASEL SELect program.

This designation indicates that RULER is an evidence-based, well-designed, and classroom-based program that systematically promotes students’ social and emotional competence, provides opportunities for practice, offers multiyear programming, and delivers high-quality training and other implementation supports to schools and families.

We encourage TPS families to see the whole selection of RULER Family Resources in the FACTS Family Portal and attend our RULER Family Workshops throughout the year.

You can also learn more about RULER on Yale's website.
